Ivan Ejub Kostić je trenutno doktorant na Fakultetu političkih nauka, Univerziteta u Beogradu. Diplomirao je na Filološkom fakultetu na katedri za orijentalistiku, arapski jezik i književnost. Nakon toga, na istoj katedri, master tezom “Vidovi islamskog reformizma u XIX i XX veku” završio je master studije – studijska grupa islam i civilizacija.

Bio je angažovan u periodu od 2011. do 2013. kao predavač na Fakultetu za komunikacije i medije, Univerzitet Singidunum, na predmetima “Kultura i istorija Bliskog istoka” i “Orijentalizam i okcidentalizam”. Takođe, jedan je od osnivača Balkanskog centra za Bliski istok, čiji je i direktor postao 2013. godine. Koautor je knjige “Progonjeni islam” koja je izašla iz štampe u septembru 2013. godine. Član je uređivačkog odbora naučnog časopisa – “Časopis za za religijske nauke “Kom” i stalni je saradnik na izdanju “Yearbook of Muslims in Europe” koje od 2009. godine publikuje izdavačka kuća Brill, Leiden. Pored toga, autor je mnogih naučnih radova i tekstova iz oblasti islamskih studija i čest je komentator za vodeće medije u zemlji i regionu na temu Bliskog istoka i islama.

Polja interesovanja su mu: islam u Evropi i na Balkanu, položaj muslimana i status islamskih zajednica republika bivše Jugoslavije, islamska misao na Balkanu, islamska savremena misao i reformizam unutar islama,odnos savremenih društvenih teorija i islama, egzegeza i hermeneutika Kurana , islamsko pravo,itd.

Ivan Ejub Kostić is a PhD candidate at the Faculty of Political Sciences, University of Belgrade. He holds a Master’s degree in Islamic studies and Bachelor’s degree in Arabic Studies from the Faculty of Philology, University of Belgrade, Serbia.

During the 2011/2013 academic years he lectured at the Faculty for Media and Communications, Singidunum University, where he was engaged on the following subjects: “Culture and History of the Middle East” and “Orientalism and Occidentalism”. He is one of the founders of the Balkan Center for the Middle East, becoming its Directing Manager in 2013. He co-authored the book “Persecuted Islam,” published in September, 2013. Also he is in editorial board of the “Journal of Religious Sciences Kom” and regular contributor for the “Yearbook of Muslims in Europe” which has been published every year since 2009 by Brill, Leiden. He has written numerous articles on the relationship between Islam, politics and contemporary social theories, and is a frequent contributor to leading media outlets in the country and region on issues related to the Middle East and Islam.

His fields of interests are: Islam in Europe and in the Balkans, the position of Balkan Muslims after the dissolution of the former Yugoslavia, modern Islamic thought and Islamic reformism, relation between modern social theories and Islam, Qur’anic exegesis and hermeneutics, Islamic law, etc.
